40 Days of PrayerAudio  |  Video  |  Sunday Summary

SPEAKER

Steve Hill

SCRIPTURE

Psalm 139:1-12

BIG IDEA

I’m never alone and I can pray any time, any place, for anything.

OUTLINE

    1. Look Backward to the Cross.
    2. Look Upward to the Father
      • Personal
      • Passionate
    3. Look inward to the Spirit living inside of me.
      • Ask the Holy Spirit to guide me.
      • Ask the Holy Spirit to use me.
    4. Look forward to my future in faith.
    5. Communion is a powerful reminder that Jesus is with me.
      • No one loves you more than your heavenly Father.
      • We belong to each other
      • This life is not the end of the story
      • Jesus is coming back to judge & reward us.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Share one thing you could thank God for every morning.
  2. While you are fighting against temptation, how does prayer help you overcome it?
  3. Jesus told us that our Father knows what we need before we ask him. Since this is true, why do you think God wants us to pray often and about everything?
  4. Discuss the difference and sincerity of silly and crisis prayers. Do you believe God cares to hear both?
  5. Take a risk and ask everyone to pray aloud (even if just a little) in your group this week.

NEXT STEP

  • I will practice praying aloud this week at least ___________________ time(s).
