DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. In what area of your life do you feel like the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak: Diet? Binge watching? Work habits? Exercise? Thought life? Other?
  2. In light of your own struggles, how do you feel about Paul’s conflict (7:14-25)?
  3. The struggle to follow Jesus in all areas of our lives is a very real tension. What are the most significant pressures that make you want to give in to your sinful desires?
  4. In the midst of the tension Paul describes, is it difficult or easy for you to remember that your identity resides in Jesus and not in performing (scorecard mentality)? Do you trust who the new you is (8:1-2)?
  5. Take time to pray for each other and the daily tension you face in this regard.

NEXT STEP

  • I will remember that I belong to Jesus and His power has freed me from sin’s power.
