SPEAKER

Steve Hill

SCRIPTURE

2 Samuel 7

OUTLINE

4 Reasons God Says No:

  1. He has a bigger perspective.
  2. He has a better plan.
  3. He has a greater purpose.
  4. He sees my selfish motives.

What to do when God Says No:

  1. Trust that God does everything in goodness and love.
  2. When in pain, pray what Jesus prayed facing the cross.
    • Affirm God’s power.
    • Ask with passion.
    • Accept God’s plan.
  3. Expect God to give his grace to handle the answer.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Describe a time you said “No” to a friend or family member’s request. Was it for his or her own good? Explain.
  2. Do you believe God’s plan is forced on you or you have a choice? Explain either way.
  3. Read 1 Peter 1:7 and 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 aloud in your group. Discuss a time when you received a No reply from God. How did it make you feel? How did if affect your relationship with Him?
  4. Pastor Steve said we need to trust the No answer from God. Discuss how this response can greatly strengthen your faith. Also discuss the potential for how receiving a No answer can weaken your faith.

NEXT STEP

  • I will trust the No answer from God when I receive it.
