SCRIPTURE

Isaiah 9

BIG IDEA

Everlasting father gives courage.

SERMON OUTLINE

  1. Acknowledge your fear.
  2. Everlasting means HE will never leave you.
  3. Courage is a decision based on God’s character.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What are the top three things you are afraid of today (i.e., loneliness, debt, personal secrets, world events, supervisor, etc.)?
  2. When you’ve been in a fearful situation, has it been easier to choose a route of courage or cowardice? What influenced your actions?
  3. Do you feel the freedom to try something (whatever it may be) and fail? If not, from where does the fear come?
  4. When considering the characteristics of God as an everlasting father, do you have a greater confidence to act in courage in difficult situations or relationships? Why or why not?

NEXT STEPS

  • I will trust God as my everlasting father who wants the best for me.
  • I will take action in a situation or relationship that scares me.
