SCRIPTURE

Jonah 2:1-10

BIG IDEA

God gives second chances to those who run to Him.

OUTLINE

How Jonah responded to his rebellion:

  1. Jonah cries out for help.
  2. Jonah accepts the discipline of the Lord.
  3. Jonah places his trust and hope in God’s promises.
  4. Jonah submits to God’s will.
  5. Jonah is given a second chance.

So, how should we run back to God?

  1. By remembering who we are.
  2. By doing so with reckless abandon.
  3. By trusting Him even when it makes no sense.
  4. By putting behind us all that would impede us.
  5. By remembering it’s not about us.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  3. Which of the characteristics of “running back to God” is most difficult for you, and why?
  4. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from a “second chance” with God?
