SCRIPTURE

Revelation 3:7-8

BIG IDEA

Open doors are provided by God to act with God and for God.

SERMON OUTLINE

An Open door is an opportunity provided…

  • by God
  • to act with God
  • and for God

Our God is the God of the opened door.

Open doors are opportunities not guarantees.

Going through an open door doesn’t mean life will be easy.

Best way to discern big doors is to practice with small doors.

Reject this myth: Choosing the wrong door means Plan B for life.

Open doors teach us to trust God and seek to Him for wisdom.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What is your first response to an open door (new opportunity)? Are you cautious or excited? Do you need to think about it for a while and investigate or do you jump in and believe your next steps are through the door?
  2. How do you discern whether the open door is one though which you should go? From God?
  3. How do you listen to God and cultivate the ears of your heart to understand His direction and wisdom?
  4. How will you seek God this week? What spiritual practices need to be more evident in our life this week?

NEXT STEPS

  • Reflect: how have you handled open doors in the past?
  • Read: Proverbs 3:5,6 why is it so difficult to fully trust God?
  • Pray: offer your life to God as an act of trust
  • Something else?
