OUTLINE

Why make a commitment to a church?

  1. Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.
  2. Practical Reason: Count on me.
  3. Cultural Reason: A place to make an eternal difference.
  4. Personal Reason: A place to grow.

Following through on commitments = Spiritual Growth

How can I make a commitment?

  1. Act like an owner by investing in people.
  2. Take personal responsibility.
  3. Find your niche and serve.
  4. Be supportive of the values and vision.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What is your neighborhood like? How many of your neighbors do you know? How many are “annoying?”
  2. How are you the “annoying” neighbor? Be honest…
  3. With whom might you invest time in the next week in your neighborhood?
  4. Discuss Pastor Steve’s statement: You can’t be fully committed to Jesus and not be committed to a church. Agree? Disagree? Why?
  5. How have you experienced spiritual growth from following through on a commitment?
