SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 6:1-4

BIG IDEA

Healthy Relationships Lead to Heartfelt Compliance.

OUTLINE

  1. Think heartfelt compliance not external behavior.
  2. Teach kids to respect authority.
  3. Envision your kid’s potential.
  4. Keep calm by understanding your child’s personality.
  5. Point your kids to Christ.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. If someone were to ask your children if you know what is important to them, would they answer “yes?” What is one practical effort you can make to hear your children’s voice?
  2. What makes it so difficult to refrain from lecturing your children and instead listen to their voice?
  3. Parents will exasperate their children. It’s a fact. Discuss ways to repent and repair your relationship with your child when this happens.
  4. Homework: How can you and your group help create a culture of compassion and encouragement instead of judgment for parents at GCF?

NEXT STEPS

  • Pray for and with your kid(s) this week.
  • Spend time with your kid(s) this week.
  • If you don’t have children, who are children in your life that you can positively influence or pray for? Or parents you can encourage or pray for?
