SPEAKER

Troy Dean

SCRIPTURE

Ephesians 4:25-5:2

BIG IDEA

Freedom is sparked by imitating God

OUTLINE

Put off falsehood = all members of one body

Steal no longer = have something to share with those in need

No unwholesome talk = may benefit those who listen

Set free = do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God

Forgive each other = as in Christ God forgave you

Follow God’s example = as dearly loved children

Walk in the way of love = as Christ loved us

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Describe one time you experienced true freedom. What happened?
  2. If someone was depicted as “walking in freedom,” what characteristics would capture that person’s attitude and life?
  3. Which of the challenges in this passage is most difficult for you (i.e. lying, stealing, anger, forgiveness)? Why is that the case right now?
  4. Which of the seven motivations most encourages you to follow God more intently? Has that motivation changed in the last year? Why?
  5. Who is one person you need to forgive this week?

NEXT STEPS

  • I will choose a motivation to follow God.
